FAR Eastern onward, it was, again.
The Lady Tamaraws fought off University of Santo Tomas in four sets, 25-22, 26-24, 17-25, 26-24, to begin Round 2 and complete the elimination series sweep in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Just like their four-set contest back in opening weekend, it took four frames for the green-and-gold to put away its longtime rival Golden Tigresses.

On the backs of Gerz Petallo and Faida Bakanke, FEU charged back into the win column with its fourth victory in the last five matches, improving to 5-3 for a tie with UST.
Set 4 was looking imminent, with the black-and-gold already up 21-16, but then came a Petallo-sparked 5-0 blitz to put the Golden Tigresses under pressure.
UST still managed to reach set point first at 25-24, only to see it erased by Chenie Tagaod’s soft hit, a Mitzi Panangin ace, and a Jean Asis block on Reg Jurado.
Sophomore winger Bakanke erupted for 22 points and five digs behind Petallo’s 12-point, 15-dig double-double along with seven receptions.
All going for naught were Angge Poyos’ 14-point, 19-dig, 16-reception game, Jurado’s 20 points and 15 digs, and rookie Mabeth Hilongo’s 17 points, 11 digs and nine receptions.
