SHAINA Nitura’s one-of-a-kind rookie season for Adamson last year didn’t quite translate into sustainable success for the Lady Falcons, with setter Fhei Sagaysay often making do with ‘Shai-centric’ sets just to stay afloat.
UAAP Season 88 seems like a different story altogether for these Falcons.
Their days of heavy-lifting might be behind them with Abegail Segui, Lhouiz Tuddao, and Claire Gam, three Baby Falcons that once played with Sagaysay and Nitura back in their title-clinching Season 86 run, now bolstering their line-up.

“Ngayon mas excited kami na sila na ulit yung kasama namin,” Sagaysay told Spin.ph
“Matagal na rin kaming magkakasama, and alam namin na pag nagsama-sama kami, haharapin namin ‘yung lahat ng challenges na darating sa amin.”
And contribute is exactly what their new batch of rookies did, as Segui and Tuddao chipped in eight and six points, respectively, while being instant starters in their opening-weekend beatdown of Ateneo.
And even though the sophomore setter spent a year away from playing with their now-rookie teammates, the chemistry remains.
“Mas napadali yung buhay namin kasi nga kilala na namin yung isa't isa and nakasama na namin din ng ilang years yung isa't isa,” she said
“Parang mga tinginan na lang alam na namin and mas pagtitibahin pa po namin yung samahan.”
And as the Lady Falcons’ central playmaker, activating not only their holdovers, but also the new young guns is what she looks forward to the most.
“As a setter, feel ko mas may maco-contribute na yung lahat, and dinistribute ko na rin yung bola nang mas nasa timing kasi alam kong palaban din yung mga spikers ko.”
After bringing in almost all of their former teammates at the juniors level, another goal for Sagaysay and the rest of the Lady Falcons is replicating their unprecedented success from the juniors level to the seniors division/
“After nung championship namin ng junior, syempre mas nilulook forward namin na madala din namin sa collegiate level,” she said.
“Yun din naman ‘yung goal ng lahat kasi never pa nakapag-champion yung Adamson. So paghihiirapan po talaga namin na makakuha ng championship title these mga upcoming seasons pa.”
