ADAMSON coach Onyok Getingan is demanding discipline from his wards following the Lady Falcons' four-set loss to Ateneo on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball tournaments.
Hindi yung mamaya gagawin, mamaya hindi," he said after huddling for almost an hour inside the dugout.
The bench strategist couldn't help but feel that some of his players are "playing for themselves," based on what he saw in this defeat to the Lady Eagles.
Kaya kada set, nagpapalit ako ng tao dahil wala talaga eh," Getingan said as they committed 35 errors in the match.
"Iba talaga. Iba ang motivation nila. Kulang sa motivation at goal sa sarili nila."
Adamson looked promising to start the game, taking a 4-0 lead in the first set, but those miscues allowed Ateneo to stage a 17-1 run that gave it a 17-5 advantage, on its way to a 25-8 first set win.
Though the Lady Falcons were able to recover and tie the match with a 25-22 second set win, they went back to their old deeds as they suffered their fifth defeat in six outings.
Getingan didn't mince his words in calling out Adamson's setters, MJ Igao and Nikka Yandoc, as they struggled to make things happen for the team which leads to him continuously shuffling his players on the court.
Though things won't get any better as the first round comes to a close, Getingan never loses faith on the Lady Falcons as he wants to see the ladies' competitive spirit come out on their game against UP on Sunday and in the second round as they try to make a late run to the Final Four.
"Sinusubukan nating solusyunan agad.
