UNIVERSITY of the Philippines isn't sitting idly by as other UAAP schools continue to add heft, power and talent in their women's volleyball rosters. Next year, the UP women's volleyball team will parade new recruits from powerhouse National University to keep in step with the league's ever rising competitive culture.

Taking their talents to UP are UAAP Season 85 girls volleyball MVP Kiane Olango and Season 86 best opposite striker Yesha Noceja, who led National University-Nazareth School to the high school championship. NU is also six-time girls volleyball champion. The duo will be eligible to compete in Season 87.

At 5-foot-8, the 18-year-old Olangoi was captain of the Lady Bullpups in last year's UAAP title romp where she shone as an efficient utility hitter.

Also 18 and similarly standing at 5-8 is Noceja who was discovered while playing for NCR in the Palarong Pambansa before becoming a key cog for NUNS.

"I'm very thankful for the learnings I got from my time in NUNS. At the same time, sobrang excited ko lang din pong makapag-aral sa UP para sa future ko while also doing whatever I can to help out the women's volleyball team," said Olango.

Joining Noceja and Olango as the newest Fighting Maroons are fellow blue-chip recruits Jothea Mae Ramos from Bacolod Tay Tung High School and Joanneesse Gabrielle Perez from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.
