NATIONAL University assured itself of least a playoff for a Final Four spot after beating University of the East, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alyssa Solomon helped stretch NU’s unbeaten run to three with 14 points on 12 attacks, one block and one ace. That enabled the Lady Bulldogs to keep their hold of solo third place behind leader UST and La Salle at 8-2 (win-loss).

Bella Belen was again a force on both ends with a triple-double of 13 points, 10 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions. She also led NU in blocking with four of the team’s 10 net rejections.

Solomon & Co. held UE to its worst team performance to date in Season 86 numbers-wise after firing blanks in both blocking and serving departments (zero blocks and zero aces) paired with 26 total attacks and 12 unforced errors in three sets.
And with six attack points to her name, UE super rookie Casiey Dongallo’s eight-game streak of double-digit scoring outputs came to a tough end at the hands of the Lady Bulldogs.
