NATIONAL U and La Salle’s modern-day women’s volleyball rivalry is all set for a championship trilogy.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Spikers will contest the UAAP crown for the third time in the last four seasons.
READ: La Salle puts UST down for the count, plots grand challenge for National U
Back in Season 84, a new generation of NU volleyball took the league by storm as the UAAP's first-ever rookie-MVP in Bella Belen steered Jhocson to a 14-game season sweep.
The finishing touches of a rather unlikely dream run came at La Salle's expense in the finals to mark the birth of another dynasty in the making on the other side of Manila.

Taft's first crack at championship redemption didn't have to wait for long as a near-perfect campaign saw the Lady Spikers seize the crown right back.
The driving force behind such a vengeful title run? The league's second-ever rookie-MVP in Angel Canino.
What was shaping up to be a third successive season of Taft versus Jhocson disputing the championship didn't come into fruition last year as University of Santo Tomas denied La Salle a third straight trip to the finals.
National U went on to win the crown at UST's expense in Season 86.
This time, even after a thrilling encore of the exact same Final Four matchups from the year prior, La Salle made sure to stamp its championship pedigree much firmer as it secured a sought-after grudge match with the Lady Bulldogs.

In a week's time, La Salle has its sights set on replicating its Season 86 mastery in the biggest stage of college volleyball.
But not if National U can fend off such a grand challenge to bring a third crown jewel home to Jhocson.
