MORE than the physical preparation, mind-conditioning served as the key factor to the National University Lady Bulldogs’ second straight win in the UAAP, head coach Norman Miguel revealed.
Last season’s runners-up made easy work of Adamson University, 25-17, 25-20, 25-20, on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena, improving its record to 2-1.
"We always remind them na, yun nga yung mind preparation, hindi lang during the game kahit sa training dapat [going to the practice] sinasabi namin na dapat yung mind mo prepared kung ano man mangyayari,” Miguel explained after the game.
"Bumabalik lang kami palagi dun sa goal namin for this season, at least maremind lang kung sa training hindi hundred percent ang ibinibigay, pag naalala nila yung objective [goal] namin, mabilis naman nakaka-adjust,” he added.
With the defending champions De La Salle University getting in the way on NU’s title defense run last season, this year, they’re choosing to take it game by game to work towards the bigger goal –to redeem the title.
Miguel also explained that ‘pride’ and ‘fighting spirit’ of the Lady Bulldogs is set to play a pivotal role in their quest for this new season’s run in their remaining games./Neil Mercado
