MILENA Alessandrini appreciates the gesture of University of Santo Tomas to dedicate the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament for her.
After suffering a season-ending left knee injury just in their fourth game of the season, Alessandrini made her first public appearance on Sunday, watching the UST-De La Salle second-round duel at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The soft-spoken Filipina-Italian spiker, who is using two crutches to walk after a successful surgery last week, expressed her gratitude to the team for the non-stop support and motivation as she recovers from a partial tear on her ACL and also a grade 3 sprain on her MCL and LCL.
“I’m so grateful and thank you so much because I feel so good,” Alessandrini said.
The Tigresses have paid tribute to their ‘Amiga’ Alessandrini by putting their teammate’s jersey No. 6 on their uniforms and cheering her up after the operation..
“(They are telling me) to be strong. Trust the process,” said the 6-foot-2 open hitter said, who averaged 15.6 points per game before going out.
Right now, Alessandrini is still not sure about timetable of her recovery but she is now undergoing rehabilitation for her recovery.
“After the surgery, I started rehabilitation. I’m fine. Just one week after surgery, I continue (to recover) and see my progress,” she said.
