UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas head coah Kungfu Reyes is staying positive that Milena Alessandrini didn’t suffer a major left knee injury after a bad landing in their game against FEU in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Despite the gruesome landing of Alessandrini that left her in a stretcher out of the game, Reyes remained optimistic that it won’t be a season-ending injury and he is praying that her MRI will have the same result of his observation.

Alessandrini was trying to hit the ball as UST was holding an 18-17 lead in the second set but she landed awkwardly and was not able to stand up until she was stretchered out back to the locker room and rushed to UST hospital.

It was initially diagnosed as an MCL injury but the Filipina-Italian spiker is currently undergoing through MRI at UST hospital.

Reyes admitted that the Tigresses were really affected from what happened to Alessandrini as they only scored two points in the last stretch of the second set after the unfortunate injury and momentarily succumbed to the Lady Tamaraws with a sorry 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-27 loss.

But losing a player, who averaged 15.6 points in their first three games, was really hard to fill in right away leaving Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina carrying the cudgels of the Tigresses.

Pero this time hindi namin nakuha yung outcome ng Milena,” Reyes said.
