IT has been eight years since the Ateneo Blue Eagles won a game against their arch rivals La Salle Lady Spikers and Wednesday’s clash was no different following a 25-15, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19 loss to the green-and-white at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It was the 15th straight win for the Lady Spikers, a losing streak dating back to 2017.

Despite suffering another heartbreak, Ateneo captain Lyann De Guzman remains satisfied with how they performed against their powerhouse rivals.
“For me, yeah, nakita ko naman sa laro na to na lumalaban kami. Syempre yung La Salle, lumalaban sila di naman sila magpapatalo,” the high flying outside hitter said after tallying 16 points in the matchup.

In their previous match against UST, the team from Katipunan was dealt with another blow as Sobe Buena joined the list of injured Blue Eagles with an LCL injury.
Despite the adversities they’re currently facing, De Guzman remains confident with her squad, especially with plenty of young talent at their disposal.
“Syempre ngayon kailangan talaga magstep-up ng everyone,” De Guzman stated.
“Sila [Zey] Pacia, [Alex] Montoro, first time nila mababad sa game. Syempre bago ‘yan, maninibago sila since La Salle kalaban namin,” she added.
Ateneo will try to crawl back to the win column in their match against University of the East on March 15.
