LA SALLE scooped up a hat-trick of wins by making short work of also-ran University of the East, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23, in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball on Saturday.
A tight first set turned into a one-sided affair from the second frame onwards as La Salle’s lead ballooned to as much as 12.
From a 4-0 Lady Spikers blitz to open Set 3, UE threw one last punch with an 8-3 run midway through the frame.
It was one that went for naught as Angel Canino (16 points) and Shevana Laput (14 points) struck right back with clutch hits of their own to close the match out in three sets.
By being the second team to hit the eight-win mark, the Lady Spikers inched closer to reclaiming the twice-to-beat bonus they missed out on last season.

The Taft towers also gained further traction by winning seven of their last eight games.
They are now roughly three games behind National U at 9-1 and two games ahead of University of Santo Tomas at 7-4.
Having been eliminated from Final Four contention with four games to spare, the search for an elusive Season 87 win continues as the Lady Red Warriors drop to 0-11.
