FOR the first time in two seasons with La Salle, Angel Canino will miss a game as she sits out the Lady Spikers' second-round match against University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament.
Although in uniform, the reigning MVP showed up at the Mall of Asia Arena with her right arm, in a cast and a sling, covered by a jacket as she joined the Lady Spikers in the pre-game warm-ups.

Oddly, neither Canino nor the coaches nor team management have issued a statement on the matter.
Angel’s father and La Salle assistant coach Rodel Canino told SPIN.ph on Monday that his daughter was ‘doing fine’ amid unconfirmed online chatter that the La Salle had suffered an injury in an accident.

In eight games played thus far, Canino led the Lady Spikers in scoring with 16.3 points paired with 5.8 excellent receptions and 4.8 excellent digs.
Now expected to step up in her absence is La Salle's trio of outside hitters in third-year aces Alleiah Malaluan and Maicah Larroza alongside rookie spiker Jhay Ar Levina.
The Taft squad's scoring load will also rest in the arms of utility spikers Shevana Laput and Baby Jyne Soreño as the defending champs look to secure a Final Four spot with a win over UP coupled with an FEU win against Ateneo later in the day.
There is no set timeline for Canino's on-court return after an accident 'not related to volleyball,' as per the live broadcast.
