SHEVANA Laput was back in action for La Salle, but she didn't have to do much heavy lifting, as the Lady Spikers made quick work of University of the East, 25-15, 25-20, and 25-19 Saturday inside the Araneta Coliseum.
Angel Canino and Lilay Del Castillo wound up in double-digits, and La Salle counted five contributors scoring more than five points in their fifth convincing victory to begin the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball tournament.

Out with illness for the past two matches, Laput returned to the first six and got nine points, all but one coming from attacks. Canino provided her constant all-around brilliance with 12 points on top of eight digs and six receptions, as Del Castillo chimed in 10 markers of her own.
La Salle's cause for concern?
The Lady Spikers were in complete command in the match-up, as no set lasted more than half an hour.
Nonetheless, assistant coach Noel Orcullo saw much room for improvement - very much on brand with the tried and tested system of shot-caller Ramil de Jesus.
"Hindi naging maganda ang outcome kahit nanalo. Andami naming errors, especially services. Kailangan pang magtrabaho," he told reporters post-game.
La Salle had 20 miscues in total, with nine coming in the second set when the Lady Warriors put up a little fight.
"Kailangan naming mag-focus ulit sa service namin, sa receive namin. Kailangang bumalik sa basic yung team ulit," said Canino, as they turn their attention to showdowns with Adamson and National U to close out the first round.
In the end, the Lady Spikers dealt a 20th straight defeat dating back to last season to the hapless Lady Warriors, who had Khy Cepada as their lone player in double-digits, with 14 points.
Now at 0-6 in the tournament, UE meets 0-5 Ateneo to end Round 1.
