IN UAAP Season 88, La Salle fought to keep its glory bright. And never did it fail.

The Lady Spikers brought out the brooms and swept their way back to the women's volleyball mountaintop, in the process dethroning National U after a 25-22, 25-16, and 25-16 Game 2 finisher on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

La Salle’s sweet 16th win in as many games in the season restored order in the Taft dynasty, giving Ramil de Jesus and his storied program a 13th crown.

This becomes the just third time in the Final Four era that a team has won all games from the eliminations to the finals, with the first two achieved by Ateneo in Season 77 then NU in Season 84, both coming, ironically, against La Salle.

This latest championship also allows the Lady Spikers to exorcise the ghost of their failed Season 76 sweep bid, the very heartbreak de Jesus constantly reminded his wards about.

This time around, the green-and-white made sure history would not repeat itself, dictating the pace from the onset to punctuate one of the most dominant campaigns the league has seen in recent memory.
