MAKING no excuses, Isa Molde said she was disappointed with herself as University of the Philippines suffered a five-set defeat to National University on Sunday.
"Para sa akin, na-disappoint ako kasi parang wala din akong laro," she said, taking the blame for her team's ouster in the UAAP Season 81 women's Final Four race.
Molde scored only nine points and was out of her element, and during one play was unable to recover the ball off of a setting miscue that gave the Lady Bulldogs a 16-15 lead in the fifth set.
The Lady Maroons eventually dropped the deciding set, 17-16, and the match that left them all weeping.
Molde, though, clarified that she's the one at fault and did not share the blame to the team.
"Basta ako na-disappoint ako sa sarili ko, hindi sa team. Lumaban naman kami. Lumaban din ang NU at ginusto nila talaga. Wala namang nagkulang," the 20-year-old outside hitter said.
Molde acknowledges that she still being on the road to recovery from her ankle injury contributed to her not being her usual explosive self.
"Siguro hirap lang din akong gumalaw dahil kakagaling ko lang sa injury, kasi di ba pag galing sa injury, alaga pa rin sa paa," he said. "But for me talaga, ako talaga ang walang laro."
With the Lady Maroons already out of the running for a semifinals seat at 6-7, Molde said that there's really no other option for them but to end this campaign on a high note and send off graduating players Marian Buitre and Ayel Estranero with a victory in their game against Adamson on April 27.
"Siguro yung last game, para sa mga tapos na ang fifth year. I-dedicate namin sa kanila yung final game na yun," she said.
