UNIVERSITY of the Philippines star Isa Molde looks to return to action in the crucial match against Far Eastern University on Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Molde walked fine as she stayed on the sidelines during the Lady Maroons’ five-set win over the UE Lady Red Warriors on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Maroons outside hitter suffered a grade 1 left ankle sprain in the second set of their three-set loss to Ateneo last Saturday, and is hoping to be cleared to play against FEU.
The Lady Maroons and Lady Tamaraws share third place at 6-4.
“Lahat ng games importante siguro sa FEU kailangan lang talagang lumaban, yung laban na di pa namin napapakita,” Molde said. “Siguro mag enjoy na lang din kasi konti na lang games na makakasama namin mga gagraduate, gusto namin i-enjoy namin.”
UP head coach Godfrey Okumu said Molde is still uncertain to play.
“The doctors have to clear her for jumping and stuff like that, because we don't want to make the situation worse. We will need her. We need her now, we need her in the future,” Okumu said. “We still have another three or four days. Hopefully, she will maybe dress up and come in, maybe as a sub.”
Molde understands that she cannot risk her health now especially that the Lady Maroons have a chance of making it to the Final Four this season.
“Siguro para sakin kasi mas okay na mag heal muna kesa ilalaro or ilalaban pa. Paano pag nag Final Four?” the 21-year-old said. “Mas importante yung games na nasa dulo na.”
“Kaya naman habulin for Saturday siguro mahihirapan pero kaya,” Molde said.
