UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas has been plagued by preseason injuries and a shaky start in its bid to bring España the crown back in UAAP Season 87.
From the highs of a silver medal finish last year, team captain Detdet Pepito isn’t quite getting why the Golden Tigresses now find themselves out of form despite a four-set recovery win over University of the East.

The junior libero-captain believes that it wasn’t just wingers Jonna Perdido, Xyza Gula, and Kyla Cordora whom they've lost so far.
Even Pepito and the rest of the girls from España tend to lose themselves on the taraflex.

And so, before bad becomes worse, UST’s skipper has already resorted to rather extreme measures by letting her young team hear stinging words to wake them all up.
“Forda talak na rin talaga (ako sa kanila). Marami talagang nawawala eh, kahit ako rin nawawala,” Pepito said.
“Kailangan ko lang din silang i-remind kung ano ‘yung purpose namin sa team at kung ano ‘yung gusto naming ma-achieve.”
If it works, it works
With the way they were able to make up for lost ground against the Lady Warriors, Pepito is relieved — optimistic even — that the Golden Tigresses might just be on track to finally get a good run of form going.
“Nakuha na ulit namin (‘yung form nagusto namin) at na-feel na ulit namin na manalo. Siyempre, marami pa kaming kailangan trabahuhin,” Pepito said.

From six rookies all veterans, from spikers to blockers, and everyone in between, no one is spared from the UST's mission to clean up its act as soon as possible.
As Peputo put it, “Lahat ng posisyon, kailangan talagang trabahuhin. At least, alam namin kung hanggang saan na kami, at sa hanggang saan yung kailangan namin.”
