WHY were two Finals MVPs crowned in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball?
In a surprise decision, National University head coach Sherwin Meneses selected outside hitter Vange Alinsug and libero Shaira Jardio as co-Finals MVPs in the school’s two-game sweep of La Salle.
Alinsug normed 15.5 points, 4.5 digs and 3.5 receptions while Jardio cleared the floor with 20 receptions and 19.5 digs.

The rationale behind such a unique move was one the Lady Bulldogs coaches already planned behind closed doors.
Pinag-usapan mabuti. Yun, happy naman ako,” Meneses said.
In the seven-time PVL champion and newly-crowned UAAP champion’s words, National U altogether is a team of MVPs anyways.
Both Alinsug and Jardio were visibly shocked when not one but two names were called as Finals MVPs.

Whether they had such distinctions or not to cap their most recent title run, the only thing that mattered for the MVP duo is championship gold and nothing more.
Alinsug added: “May award man ako o wala, still, kami parin yung maglleader sa susunod kaya room for improvements lang talaga kasi mahaba-haba pa talaga.
“Pero ngayon, ieenjoy lang namin itong panalo with the senior citizens.”
