COACH Kungfu Reyes said EJ Laure needs to be back when the University of Sto. Tomas women’s team resumes training on Thursday if she is to regain her spot in the team for the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament.
Out since last season due to a shoulder injury, Laure said three months ago she had been cleared to do strengthening exercises.
Showing up at practice doesn’t guarantee Laure a place in the team that features Sisi Rondina, Dimdim Pacres, Tin Franciso, Caitlyn Viray, Carla Sandoval, Alina Bicar and Milena Alessandrini.
“Visible naman nag-exam nitong nakaraan pero yung pagbalik after ng Christmas break ang pinaka-importante, sa Dec. 27 andun na dapat siya,” the UST coach said.
“So hopefully makikita niyo na siya ulit in action kung makaabot siya sa cut,” he added.
UST rookie Eya said she doesn’t want her sister to rush the comeback.
“Si ate andun naman siya. Process pa rin siya siyempre, di naman kailangan madaliin meron talagang time. Kung panahon mo panahon mo,” said Eya.
Eya and the young Tigresses placed fourth in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference and second place in the Super Liga Collegiate Grand Slam.
UST is hoping to train in Thailand before the season starts as it seeks to redeem itself from last year’s seventh-place finish with a 4-10 win-loss record.
