EJ Laure is eager to get back in action and join sister Eya in leading University of Sto. Tomas in UAAP Season 81.
Out since last season due to a shoulder injury, Laure said she has been cleared to do strengthening exercises as she looks forward to playing again.
“Nagstrengthening pa lang ako and doing rehab kasi kailangan ko muna ng strengthening kasi parang mahirap na bumalik agad agad ng walang clearance ng doctor,” said the 21-year-old, who sustained the injury in December last year.
“Before walang clearance pa ng doctor yun na pwede na ako bumalik. So parang this time pinayagan na ako nila coach na magrehab muna para gumaling and para di na bumalik yung injury ko,” she added.
Laure kept out of the limelight since watching the UST’s UAAP season-opener in February, but says she has been working to get back in top shape.
“Okay lang naman ako. Enrolled ako,” she told the reporters.
“Ilang months na rin akong nagrerecover so try kong bumalik ng season 81,” the 5-foot-8 hitter said.
Laure said is tough being out of the squad, especially with the Tigresses challenging for the PVL title with Eya — who herself is nursing shoulder injury.
The UAAP Season 77 rookie of the year says she is getting back to shape and says playing with her sister again is one of the motivations to return.
The last time the sisters played together, they won the UAAP Season 76 girls volleyball title.
“Siyempre sobrang proud ako na kaya niyang makipag sabayan kahit bago pa lang siya dito and parang di na bago sa kanya,” the elder Laure said.
“Siyempre silang lahat parang lahat ng nagsasabi sakin na gusto na kaming makita back on court na magkasama so parang mas namomotivate pa ko na bilisan yung pagrerecover ko,” added EJ.
