DEFENDING champion La Salle defeated rookie-laden National University, 25-10, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22, on Wednesday for its third straight win in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Lourdes Clemente and May Luna provided the clutch hits in the third and fourth sets the Lady Spikers improved to a league-best 3-0 win-loss record.

Luna had 14 points off 13 spikes, while Aduke Ogunsanya scored 13.

Cheng had 12 points and made 11 excellent receptions, Dela Cruz also scored 12 and Clemente had five markers for La Salle.

Coach Ramil praised the young NU team as it managed to take a set from a La Salle squad coming off a straight-sets win over Adamson.

La Salle faces UP (2-1) on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Spikers had 25 errors compared to the Lady Bulldogs’ 31 miscues.

So doon ako medyo na-frustrate,” De Jesus said.

Princess Robles scored 18 and Ivy Lacsina added 16 points for NU, which dropped to 1-2 before facing the Adamson Lady Falcons (0-2) on Sunday also at the Big Dome.
