FOR reigning UAAP women’s volleyball rookie-MVP Angel Canino, there’s no reason to be distracted by all the noise on social media.
Recent weeks have seen fans online spewing hateful comments directed at the La Salle ace spiker regarding her alleged arrogance on the court.

But with such a longstanding culture of hate speech online, Canino couldn’t care less when it comes to ‘negative’ commentary aimed at her, opting to tune out social media as the season runs its course.
“I was able to tune out everything of that because I don't do social media right now. So wala akong nakikita kahit ano mang negative o positive yung sinasabi po nila. Wala po akong nakikita. For me it's important to protect my peace of mind,” said Canino.
“Pero malaking pasasalamat ko sa positive comments. Sa mga lumalapit sa family ko, maraming salamat po sa kanila kasi ‘yun po talaga ‘yung totoong nagsusuporta sa’kin.”
Arrows back up
Following the Lady Spikers' first loss of Season 86 in five sets to University of Sto. Tomas, Canino is pleased to see the defending champions take huge strides in a straight-sets shutout of rival Ateneo.
“Sobrang laki ng adjustment na ginawa ng team namin and I'm happy to see ‘yung applications na ginawa namin just a week since natalo kami,” said Canino.
“And ‘yun nga po, ‘yung sabi nga rin ni Coach Ramil [de Jesus] na happy din po siya sa nakikita niyang ginawa namin sa training namin.”
