FOR the second year in a row, a winless campaign has been logged by the University of the East.
Campared to last year, though, the Lady Warriors actually believed they had a better shot in UAAP Season 88.
“This year is gonna be our multo kasi kaya naman po talaga. Alam namin sa sarili namin, pero kinulang po talaga,” she told SPIN.ph.

Yes, a red-and-white side with more than half of its roster being rookies was adamant that it was more competitive than last year's outfit that still had the likes of now-PVL rising star Riza Nogales.
Much of that has to do with Bangayan, who totaled 103 points, leading UE in scoring, while also ranking second in the league in service aces per set at 0.34.
Of course, yet another coaching change and yet another new system made it appear that the Lady Warriors remained stuck in the mud. Even Bangayan had to learn on the fly in terms of being team captain.
But for them themselves, they actually kept getting better and better as the tournament rolled along.
“Mahirap po talaga sa amin ngayon makakuha ng panalo. Big factor din yung maraming bata sa team. Apat lang kaming seniors, and kailangan naming silang i-handle nang maayos sa loob at labas ng court,” she said, referring to herself and fellow veterans Angge Reyes and Khy Cepada.

With that being said, the 23-year-old opposite hitter is confident that the only way is forward for these young Lady Warriors.

And perhaps, she'll still be there to show them the way?
“May isa pa rin po ako (playing year), pero it's gonna be a big decision for me kung babalik pa ba or hindi. Pero gusto kong makita yung mga bata na mag-grow sa larangan ng UAAP,” she said.
