ATENEO goes for its ninth straight victory when it takes on Far Eastern University on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
The surging Lady Eagles try to complete a season series sweep against the Lady Tamaraws and move closer to a spot in the Final Four.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Tamaraws clash at 4 p.m.
Ateneo scored a huge three-set win over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons on Saturday to improve to a league leading 8-1 win-loss record.
Led by Kat Tolentino, Bea de Leon and Maddie Madayag, Ateneo pulled off an amazing comeback win from two sets down in their first-round clash against FEU and this time the Lady Tamaraws will be without top scorer Lycha Ebon, out at least three weeks with a left knee injury.
FEU survived back-to-back five-set matches against Adamson University and University of the East for the solo third place (6-3) and is ready for another tough match, expecting solid performances from Jerrili Malabanan, Heather Guino-o and Ivana Agudo.
Meanwhile, UP (5-4) tries to bounce back without injured Isa Molde against UE (2-7) at 2 p.m.
Molde went down with a left ankle sprain early in the second set of their three-set loss to Ateneo.
UP head coach Godfrey Okumu is expected to field graduating Marian Buitre to join wing spikers Tots Carlos and Justine Dorog.
