ATENEO'S wings got the wind taken out of them right away in UAAP Season 88 in a straight-sets loss to Adamson on Sunday.
After staying competitive in the first two frames, the Blue Eagles’ offense completely unraveled in the third, as the Lady Falcons went on a punishing 16–1 push, leaving the blue-and-white grounded then pounded.

“I think Set 3, medyo low yung energy namin talaga. Parang we were moving so slow,” Alexia Montoro admitted.
“Yung palo, yung aggressiveness wala talaga nung Set 3. And I think kulang lang sa communication and really aggressiveness and energy inside the court. I think that’s what we’re lacking so far,” she added after top-scoring for Ateneo with just five points.
Indeed, the Katipunan squad struggled offensively, converting only 18 of 121 attacks for a 14.9 percent success rate.
Bluer than Blue Eagles
Still, even as they fell victim to an unbelievable tear, Montoro is rallying the Blue Eagles to keep the One Big Fight alive and kicking.
As she put it, “I think we need to be more composed, stick to the things we do in training, and be more aggressive talaga when it comes to our attacks.”
Ateneo has a week to regroup before facing the University of the Philippines, as it seeks to reignite its fire and desire in the hopes of bouncing back from a sorry loss to start the season.
