ATENEO and University of Santo Tomas fight one last time for the UAAP women’s volleyball crown on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The decider of the Season 81 best-of-three series is set at 3 p.m.
The top-seeded Lady Eagles look to complete a comeback after dropping the series opener, while the second-seeded Tigresses try to recover from the heartbreaking loss in the second match.
Ateneo is looking to clinch its third title after back-to-back championships in 2014 and 2015, while UST is hoping to end a nine-year title drought.
After a so-so performance in the opener, the Lady Eagles regained their form while the Tigresses suffered a double-whammy as Eya Laure sustained an ankle injury.
Laure vowed to play through pain as UST looks to bounce back.
“Babangon at babangon talaga kami and hindi ako susuko ng ganun-ganon lang,” said Laure.
Focus will also be on the graduating players, with Bea de Leon, Maddie Madayag and Kim Gequillana playing their last UAAP match as well as Sisi Rondina and Rica Rivera.
Ateneo will also banks on Kat Tolentino, Deanna Wong, Ponggay Gaston, Jules Samonte and Dani Ravena.
Skipper Rondina is hoping that with Laure hurt, Alina Bicar, Ysa Jimenez, KC Galdones and Caitlyn Viray will step up.
