ROOKIES Antonette Landicho and Kly Orillaneda are doing a fine job in the UAAP Season 81 women’s beach volleyball tournament despite the short preparation.

Lined up just before the tournament after it was determined National Universty first team Roma Doromal and Jasmine Nabor cannot see action due to schedule conflicts, Landicho and Orillaneda are proving up to task and have won their first three matches.

The two 18-year-old spikers hold a share of the early lead after defeating Ateneo‘s Ponggay Gaston and Jules Samonte, University of the Philippines’ Isa Molde and Justine Dorog and University of the East’s Rhea Manalo and Lyen Ritual.

“Masaya po kasi parang di namin inexpect tsaka hindi din po kami dapat ‘yung maglalaro,” said Landicho, who is a first-timer in beach volleyball.

    Lancidho, from Balayan, Batangas agreed.

The Lady Bulldogs need at least two more wins to clinch a Final Four berth but their next assignments will be tougher as the face Marianne Calinawan and Ivana Agudo of FEU on Friday, Rondina and Barbon of UST and Michelle Morente and Tin Tiamzon on Tuesday next week, and Adamson’s Gracel Ave and Hannah Infante on Friday next week.

    Orillaneda and Landicho are unfazed.
