ANGEL Canino's mother, Sol, defended her daughter from wild speculations surrounding the mysterious injury suffered by the reigning UAAP women's volleyball MVP.

Canino's mom refuted a various online versions on what led to the sidelining of the La Salle star, which include alleged pregnancy, academic problems, and claims that she plans to turn pro, among many others.
"She'll bounce back. She's not going anywhere, she's not going pro (pls stop dragging Akari). She's not pregnant (pls stop dragging anyone). She doesn't have acads problems and definitley she's not faking this. She's hurt and she will recover," Canino's mother wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.
She urged netizens to be more responsible with their posts as unfounded narratives continued to spread online.
"As a mom, I pray that we must be responsible of what we post and comment because somewhere along the way there are people who get hurt. I still believe in kindness so please just please be kind," she added.
Canino's mom also responded to an X/Twitter user questioning their move to not disclose the events which led to her daughter's injury.
"Sana maintindihan niyo po 'yung salitang respect," she said.
Ahead of La Salle's four-set win over University of the Philippines on Thursday, Canino arrived at the Mall of Asia Arena wearing a sling on her casted right arm.
Lady Spikers deputy coach Noel Orcullo told reporters Canino sustained a cut on her right arm, which was earlier described during the game's live broadcast as one that came from an 'accident not related to volleyball.'
La Salle went on to clinch its Final Four spot on the same day with the win over UP and Ateneo's loss to Far Eastern University.
According to multiple sources of SPIN.ph, Canino is expected to return at a later stage of the ongoing UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament and may happen 'as early as next week.'
