ADAMSON assistant coach Rogelio “Onyok” Getigan has been tapped to replace Air Padda as coach of the struggling Lady Falcons for the rest of the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament.
In a report posted on Akarisports.com, the Falcons management said Getigan, the current Baby Falcons coach, will take over the coaching reins of a Lady Falcons side that is off to a dismal 0-3 start to the season after a four-set loss to University of the East last Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The team sponsor added that Padda will continue serving as the team’s conditioning coach after three seasons and three matches in charge of the Lady Falcons.
Padda had a 7-24 win-loss record for Adamson in her tenure.
Getigan will get his first test on Sunday as he seeks to end the Lady Falcons' three-game skid in a game against National University at the Smart Araneta Coliseum
Getigan is a three-time Palarong Pambansa champion coach and recently steered Kings’ Montessori to the Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals last year, beating Team Hawaii. He also called the shots for the Philippine team that participated in the 10th Asean Schools Games in Malaysia.
Getigan will inherit a team led by mainstays Eli Soyud, Joy Dacoron, Bern Flora, Chiara Permentilla, libero Thang Ponce and rookie setter Nikka Yandoc.
