HOW about that for an upset?
Adamson staved off elimination with an Upset of the Year contender over defending champion National University, 25-23, 16-25, 28-26, 25-22, in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball on Sunday.
For the fourth time this season, Shaina Nitura breached the 30-point mark with 32 markers built on 30 attacks and two blocks.

In doing so, Nitura became the first UAAP women’s volleyball player to rack up four 30-pieces in a single season — with three elimination round games to spare.
Unlike the last two occasions, the Adamson rookie-captain had a victorious finish to another brilliant performance as the Lady Falcons beat NU for the first time in six years, or since their first-round duel back in Season 81.
That victory turned out to be one of just two Adamson wins in that campaign when it finished dead-last at 2-12.
But at least for now, the Lady Falcons lived to fight another day in a share of sixth place with the Ateneo Blue Eagles at 4-7.
Meanwhile, National U suffered only its second loss of the season. Earlier in the day, Far Eastern University also ruined its bid for outright qualification to the Final Four by beating University of the Philippines.
At 9-2, the defending champions remained two wins short of locking up one of two twice-to-beat advantages in the Final Four.
No other Lady Falcon hit double figures in the win, with Frances Mordi and Mayang Nuique firing eight points each.
