FLIGHT'S on the up and up, at long last, for Adamson in UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball.
The Lady Falcons finally strung together back-to-back wins following a straight-sets conquest of woeful University of the East, 25-15, 25-18, 28-26, Saturday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.
The win wasn't all smooth sailing, however, as Shaina Nitura and Co. had to come from behind, 8-16, in Set 3 before mounting a 17-7 uprising that tied the tally at 23-all.
The two teams then traded points and were still tangled at 26-26 until Adamson completed the comeback with Nitura hammering down the final nail in the Lady Warriors' coffin.
Nitura finished with 13 points from eight attacks, three blocks, and two aces in another all-around showing that also got her nine digs and eight receptions. Frances Mordi topped the scoring column for them with 18 markers, all but two coming from kills, together with six digs and six receptions.
Lhouiz Tuddao accounted for three of the Lady Falcons' 12 blocks, frustrating the red-and-white top guns in Khy Cepada to 14 points in 22.58-percent efficiency and Bea Zamudio and Van Bangayan to a combined eight markers in 16.28-percent efficiency.
Adamson keeps pace in playoff race
The back-to-back wins are a timely momentum boost, as up next for Adamson is two-time defending champion National U.
More importantly, the white-and-blue kept itself in the thick of things with a 6-4 standing, running fourth right now behind both 6-3 NU and FEU and ahead of 5-4 UST.
On the other hand, UE dropped to 0-10 in the tournament - and 0-24 dating back to their last win in the final game of Season 86.
