ADAMSON spread its wings anew and left University of the East grounded, hacking out a four-set 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18 win in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Falcons wasted no time unleashing their claws, striking early to seize control of the first two sets.

Come the third frame, however, the Lady Warriors took advantage of Adamson coach JP Yude's call to sit Shaina Nitura down with a 15-11 lead by going on a 10-3 run.

Yude re-inserted his ace, but by then, all the momentum was with the red-and-white, as Khy Cepada sealed the deal on their stealing of the set.

Fortunately for the Lady Falcons, their shot-caller went with his key players for all of the fourth frame and they got going again en route to a bounce back win that hiked their record to 2-1.

Adamson learns its lesson

Yude admitted that his lineup shuffle cost them the third set. The move, though, was all borne out of trust in his players.

“As we know, lahat ng players namin, may capabilities maglaro. Hindi namin kontrolado kung paano sila mag-perform, pero we encourage them how they train. Not all the time ok ’tong starting lineup namin,” he explained.

Francis Mordi then did damage with 19 points on 18 attacks and one block, while Nitura continued to roll with a triple-double outing of 19 points, 13 excellent digs, and 12 receptions.

For the Lady Warriors, Bea Zamudio tallied 14 points, while Cepada finished with 11 markers in their third loss in a row to start the season - and 17th straight overall dating back to Season 86.
