ADAMSON's triumphant Akari Cup title run became bittersweet with an unfortunate news on one of its senior aces Lorene Toring.

The Lady Falcons' veteran middle blocker had to forego her final playing year a week before UAAP Season 86 after suffering an ACL injury in a training session back in January.

Toring, who joined the San Marcelino side in 2020, shared the unfortunate news on Instagram during Adamson's Akari Cup title game on Wednesday evening.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the news that an ACL injury has sidelined me for the foreseeable future. Though this setback may seem like an overwhelming obstacle, I choose to see it as an opportunity for growth. I am filled with a sense of peace, knowing that everything happens for a reason,” said Toring.
“Though the road ahead may be uncertain, I am confident that it will ultimately lead me to where I am meant to be,” she added.
In parallel fashion, Jerom Lastimosa missed a huge bulk of what was supposed to be his UAAP swan song with Adamson after similarly sustaining an ACL injury in training just weeks before the Season 86 men's basketball tournament began in September of last year.
A huge blow has been dealt once again to Adamson after a series of player and coaching departures last year. But after an outstanding display of maturity and composure for the JP Yude-led squad in its preseason tilt, the Lady Falcons are ready to spread their wings and eclipse their Final Four finish last year when the new UAAP season begins on February 17.
