NATIONAL University shook off a sluggish start to beat University of the East, 25-22, 25-11, 25-17, on Sunday for its second win in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Myla Pablo scored 13 points and Jaja Santiago added 10 points for NU, which improved its win-loss card to 2-2 and joined Adamson and Far Eastern University in third place.
“Tight ’yung mga bata malamig daw kasi (ang panahon) pero noong nakuha na nila ang rhythm nila ok na,” said NU coach Ariel dela Cruz.
NU minimized its errors to 18, while UE gave away 32 points through miscues.
Leuseht Dawis scored 13 and skipper Shaya Adorador added 10 for the Lady Warriors, winless in four matches.
UE managed to keep it close in the opening set, but lost one of its main attackers as Jasmine Alcayde sprained her right ankle later in the second set and never returned. She finished with just one point.
