TITLEHOLDER Ateneo has scored two straight wins without dropping a set, making short work of Adamson, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14, on Wednesday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Skipper Alyssa Valdez led the Lady Eagles with 15 points, while sophomore Michelle Morente added 12 and Ella de Jesus chipped in nine points.
The Lady Eagles are tied for the lead with last year’s runner up La Salle at 2-0.
But Valdez stressed two wins isn’t much and they still need to work on their game.
“Coach Tai (Bundit) keeps us stay grounded all the time," said Valdez. "Ayaw niya na ma-feel namin na nakapanalo na kami ng two games.”
The Katipunan-based Ateneo squad took an early 7-2 lead in the third and stretched it to 18-7 after Amy Ahomiro’s back-to-back hits to finish the match in an hour and 17 minutes.
Jessica Galanza made 12 points for the Lady Falcons, who dropped to the bottom with a 0-2 slate with National University.
