FAR Eastern University snapped a two-match skid with a 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18 victory over cellar-dwelling University of the East on Saturday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Tamaraws looked set to take a straight-sets win but wobbled in the third, allowing the Lady Warriors to extend the match.
It was UE's first set win of the season, the cellar-dwelling Lady Warriors making the Lady Tamaraws pay for some sloppy plays before Liazah Bendong sealed the set a service ace.
That served as a wake-up call for FEU, which recovered to score its fourth win in nine outings.
Bernadeth Pons led FEU with 14 points and Mary Palma added 11.
Trailling by two, 9-11, in the fourth, the Lady Tamaraws countered with a 10-3 run to take the driver’s seat.
UE remained winless in nine outings.
