DEFENDING champion La Salle got back on top of the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday but stalwart Kim Dy found no reason to celebrate just yet.
The Lady Spikers defeated University of the East, 25-16, 25-15, 25-9, at The Arena in San Juan to bag their ninth win in 11 outings, tied with Ateneo, but the Taft-based spikers hold a superior quotient over the Lady Eagles.
Dy, though, would rather focus on the bigger picture after the Lady Spikers cruised to their ninth straight Final Four appearance.
“‘Di namin masyado iniisip na No.1 kami, na confident na kami masyado. Iniisip lang namin na anything can happen so we have to give 100 percent every game,” she said.

With three more games remaining in the second round, Dy said La Salle is better off in focusing on each opponent rather than looking far ahead into the semis..
The Lady Spikers will face University of Santo Tomas on Wednesday followed by Adamson on April 1 and Ateneo on April 8.
“Nandoon na ang confidence namin pero andoon pa rin ang goal to beat them one at a time. ‘Di namin iniisip na Finals agad kasi second round pa lang. Kung sino kalaban namin paghahandaan namin,” said the fourth year opposite spiker.
After losing to Ateneo at the end of the first round, La Salle has gone on a roll winning four consecutive games and the last year’s Finals MVP wants to maintain momentum coming into the Final Four.
“Siguro ngayon na kami nagpi-peak so maganda talaga ang timing papunta na kami sa semifinals,” said Dy.
