DEFENDING champion La Salle made a short work out of hapless Adamson University, 25-12, 25-16, 25-15, to join Ateneo at the second spot in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Kim Dy fired from all angles, with 10 kills, two blocks and three service aces, while Duke Ogunsanya scattered her offense from seven hits, one block and three service aces for the Lady Spikers.
Coming from a bitter loss to University of the Philippines and a straight set win over National University, La Salle improved to 4-1 win-loss record tied with the Lady Eagles and extended the Lady Falcons’ losing streak to 12 dating back to Season 78.
“Nagbalik na ang kumpyansa kasi after ng loss namin sa UP, medyo nawala ang kumpyansa,” revealed La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.
“After ng game namin sa NU, doon muli kumuha ng confidence ng team,” he added.
The Lady Spikers dictated the tempo of the entire match that took an hour and 13 minutes to finish.
La Salle scored more than half of Adamson’s attacks (36-14). Dy and Majoy Baron took over the defense at the net as the Lady Spikers also had more blocks (6-1) and capitalized on the Lady Warriors’ poor reception with 11 service aces against two of UE.
Adamson skipper Jema Galanza made seven points to lead the Lady Falcons.
