GOING winless against Ateneo in the elimination round worked wonders for La Salle when it mattered most.
Kim Dy admitted as much after lifting the Lady Spikers to a 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-20 victory over the Lady Eagles in Game One of the UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball tournament finals on Tuesday.
"Siguro may hugot factor since hindi kami nanalo nung [first and] second round," said Dy, who delivered the win-clinching kill. "And we really wanted to defend the crown."
Although the Lady Spikers inched closer to back-to-back titles, Dy said they shouldn't be complacent and finish off the Lady Eagles in Game Two on Saturday.
"Given na we beat them, we shouldn’t be too overconfident," she said.
"Excited (sa Game Two) syempre, to defend the crown, and hopefully it will be our last game," added Dy.
