LOSING to La Salle for the first time this season, in the finals no less, wasn't enough to dampen Ateneo's mood.
Lady Eagles skipper Jia Morado said the team remained as optimistic as ever, even after a 25-21, 27-29, 22-25, 20-25 defeat in the opener of their best-of-three championship series against the Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
"After the game naman, no one seemed down about it and that's a good thing," said Morado who finished with five points to go along with 46 excellent sets.
"Pagdating ng dugout we were pretty optimistic naman. No one was dragged down by this loss," she added.
Ateneo Volleyball program head Sherwin Malonzo echoed the same sentiments.
"Yung loss it's a learning experience for them. We'll bounce back. Do something about it, cause we have four days to prepare,” he said.
But for them to do so, Morado urged the Lady Eagles to play less sloppy, after giving away 34 free points to the defending champions that led to their doom.
The errors poured just when the Lady Spikers started to regain their momentum and that was a combination that was too huge to overcome for them.
"I think we just made more errors than we should have, that's all. But then we know what to work on in training naman," she said.
"It's not something that we're super worried about because we know what we have to work on," added Morado.
