FOR the third straight season, National University and University of Santo Tomas will face off for the UAAP girls volleyball championship after beating their respective semifinal rivals on Tuesday at the Adamson Gym.
The top seeded Bulldogs bested No. 4 University of the East, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19, while the second-ranked Tigresses downed La Salle-Zobel, 25-22, 25-23, 28-26.
NU and UST open the Season 78 best-of-three showdown at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
In the boys division, UST ousted last season's runner-up Ateneo, 25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 25-22, to clinch the last berth in the semifinals.
The Tiger Cubs take on No. 3 Far Eastern University-Diliman in the first step-ladder semis match on Thursday at 9 a.m., with the winner facing defending champion and twice-to-beat UE.
NU advanced to the title round with a thrice-to-beat advantage after completing a 12-match sweep of the eliminations.
