UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas and Far Eastern University dispute the top seed in the UAAP beach volleyball semifinals on Wednesday at Sands SM By The Bay.
UST’s Jaron Requinton and Rancel Varga beat La Salle's Vince Maglinao and Ian Jumandos, 21-9, 21-13, for their sixth straight win, clinching a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.
Also at 6-0 are FEU’s Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon, who beat University of the East’s Jake Abria and Lloyd Josafat, 21-12, 21-13.
“Mas pukpok po yung training namin kasi yun nga po, defending champion po kami kaya hindi easy-easy,” said Requinton.
UST and FEU clash ?at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for the top seeding in the semifinals.
National University and Adamson University complete the semifinal cast.
NU’s James Natividad and James Buytrago ousted University of the Philippines' Niccolo Consuelo and Louis Gamban, 21-16, 21-12.
Adamson’s Leo Miranda and Jesus Valdez advanced with a 21-12, 21-19 win over Ateneo's Abai Llenos and Kurt Aguilar.
NU and Adamson are tied at 4-2 and will clash for third place on Wednesday at 8:40 a.m
UP is out with a 2-4 card, joining also-ran La Salle and UE, who are tied at 1-5, as well as winless Ateneo (0-6).
