UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas and La Salle ended their UAAP Season 81 volleyball campaign with big wins on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Tiger Spikers scored a 25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 25-23 victory over University of the East in a match of also-rans.
Wewe Medina led the Tigers with 14 points. rookie Jaron Requinton had 13 points, Hernel Corda and graduating Jayvee Sumagaysay contributed 12 hits each, while also outgoing Joshua Umandal added 10 markers on top of 11 excellent receptions.
Timothy Tajanlangit also ended his UAAP career with 15 excellent sets including 10 digs as he leaves the team together with Juren Buro and Tyrone Carodan.
UST ended with a 5-9 win-loss record, while UE finishes at 2-12.
Senior player Geric Ortega led his team with 11 points in his last game as a Red Warrior, while graduating Kim Adriano and rookie Lloyd Josafat added nine each.
Noel Alba and Clifford Inoferio also played their last UAAP match.
Meanwhile, outgoing La Salle star Cris Dumago unleashed 23 points as the Green Spikers scored a 25-21, 25-21, 15-25, 23-25, 15-11 win University of the Philippines in another match of teams who have made early exits.
Dumago powered La Salle one last time with 18 spikes, three aces and two blocks.
Billie Anima and Kieffer Reyes chipped in 22 and 18 hits, respectively.
La Salle ended with a 5-9 card, while UP finished the season with a 1-13 record.
John Mark Millette had 23 points, graduating Gian San Pascual and Jerry San Pedro finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Nicolo Consuelo added 10.
