FAR Eastern University is a win away from a sweep of the first after dominating Adamson, 25-14, 25-23, 25-23, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Richard Solis and Jude Garcia combined for 21 of FEU’s total 41 attack points, finishing with 12 points each as the Tamaraws improved to 6-0.
JP Bugaoan had 11 points, Redijohn Paler scored nine and Peter Quiel added eight markers for FEU, which faces La Salle (2-4) on Saturday.
The Falcons suffered their second straight defeat and now hold a 3-2 card.
Paolo Pablico scored 12 and George Labang added 11 for Adamson.
Ateneo defeated bottom team University of the Philippines, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13, for its second straight win.
Gian Glorioso had 20 points off 13 attacks, six blocks and an ace, Chumason Njigha contributed 12 points, Tony Koyfman had 11 points and John Rivera added 10 markers.
“I always tell them naman na don’t take any team lightly kasi everyone is out there to get them. Everyone is out there to try to get a set or a win from us,” Ateneo coach Timmy Sto. Tomas said.
“I always tell them that you have to be always confident with everything that you do and of course they shouldn’t hesitate”
Ateneo improved to a 3-2 slate, tying Adamson, which it faces on Wednesday.
Earl San Pedro scored 14 points for UP, winless in five matches. The Maroons face defending champion National University (4-1) on Wednesday.
