RICHARD Solis and John Paul Bugaoan powered Far Eastern University to a 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18 victory over University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.
Solis scored 14 points and made 10 digs, while Bugaoan delivered 13 points off 10 spikes and three blocks as FEU scored its second straight win.
Jude Garcia had 11 hits and made 17 excellent receptions and nine digs, while Peter Quiel also added 11 markers.
John Mark Millette scored 19 and Jerry San Pedro added 13 for UP, which dropped to 0-2.
Meanwhile, University of Sto. Tomas overcame Ateneo, 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 15-12, for its first win.
Joshua Umandal and Wewe Medina nailed the match-winning hits to deliver UST’s first win, bouncing back from a five-set meltdown in the match against Adamson.
Medina had 22 points, while Umandal chipped in 20 points on 18 attacks, a block and an ace as UST tied Ateneo at 1-1.
Tony Koyfman had 22 points, while Janjan Rivera delivered 15 points including 23 excellent receptions as Ateneo failed to duplicate Sunday’s three-set win over De La Salle.
UST takes on UP, while FEU battles Ateneo on Sunday.
