NATIONAL University star Bryan Bagunas has been formally awarded the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball MVP trophy on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Bagunas led the league in scoring with 20.36 points per game and emerged as the most efficient attacker with 53.49 percent success rate, finally earning the MVP award in his final playing year.
Bagunas became the first-ever Season MVP from National University in the Final Four era. Ateneo’s Marck Espejo won five straight MVP titles.
“Unang-una nagpapasalamat ako kay God kasi all through out the season ginabayan niya kami,” said Bagunas.
“Sa managers namin, sa coaches and sa family namin na laging nakasuporta. Sa lahat ng NU community maraming-maraming salamat po.”
Bagunas was also awarded the 1st Best Outside Spiker and the Best Server trophy after topping the race with 0.47 ace per set.
NU’s Nico Almendras was named as Rookie of the Year, while James Natividad won the Best Opposite Spiker award.
FEU’s John Paul Bugaoan bagged the 1st Best Middle Blocker award, while Jude Garcia was named 2nd Best Outside hitter.
Ateneo’s Lawrence Gil Magadia was named Best Setter, while Manuel Sumanguid earning the Best Libero award, while Chumason Njigha was awarded as 2nd Best Middle Blocker.
