FAR Eastern University bounced back with a 25-15, 26-28, 25-22, 25-14 victory over skidding University of Santo Tomas on Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Coming off a loss to Ateneo that halted their seven-match win streak, FEU got back on track behind John Paul Bugaoan and Jude Garcia, scoring their eighth win in nine matches while sending the Tiger Spikers to their third straight defeat.
Bugaoan scored 18 points off 14 spikes, three blocks and an ace, while Garcia delivered 13 attacks and four blocks for 17 points while also making 10 digs. Skipper Richard Solis added 11 markers, while Owen Suarez dished out 31 excellent sets.
National University is on top with a 9-1 record, followed by FEU and Ateneo (6-4).
FEU faces Adamson (5-4) on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.
Joshua Umandal had 17 points, while Gem Corda and Jayvee Sumagaysay added 10 points for UST, which committed 39 errors.
The Tiger Spikers are in sixth place with a 3-6 record and next face cellar-dwelling University of the Philippines on Wednesday.
La Salle took fifth place with a 4-6 card as it swept University of the East, 25-21, 25-22, 29-27.
Cris Dumago led the Green Spikers with 12 points while making 12 digs. JD Delos Reyes chipped in 10 hits, while Billie Anima added eight markers on top of 14 excellent receptions and eight digs.
La Salle battles NU on Sunday next week at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Nobody scored in double figures for UE with Clifford Inoferio and Lloyd Josafat posting nine nine points each fie UE.
The Red Warriors (2-8) face FEU next Sunday.
