ATENEO made it to the Final Four for the sixth straight year, while Adamson returned to the semifinals after a two-year absence by scoring big wins on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Chumason Njigha and Tony Koyfman showed the way as Ateneo eliminated University of Sto. Tomas, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.
Njigha scored 18 points as Koyfman added 13 points, all coming from attacks.
Wewe Medina and Joshua Umandal had 11 points apiece for UST, which holds a 4-8 win-loss record.
Adamson made a short work of University of the East, 27-25, 25-17, 25-15, to also reach the semifinals.
The Eagles and Falcons (8-4) join the National University Bulldogs (10-1) and Far Eastern University Tamaraws (9-2) in the Final Four.
George Labang Jr. put up 17 points to lead the Falcons. Paolo Pablico chipped in 12 hits, while Leo Miranda added nine markers and made 13 excellent receptions and 11 digs.
The wins by Ateneo and Adamson also knocked out idle La Salle (4-7), which will take on the Falcons on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
UE dropped to 2-10 and will face Ateneo also on Saturday, while UST battles NU on Sunday at the MOA Arena.
