    Mar 13, 2019

NATIONAL University hardly broke a sweat in sweeping winless University of the Philippines, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15, in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament on Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Bryan Bagunas spearheaded the Bulldogs attack with 17 points off 14 kills, while Francis Saura fired 12 built on eight spikes, three blocks and a service ace.

Angelo Almendras added 11 markers, as Joshua Retamar made 24 excellent sets as the defending champions stretched their winning streak to five.

NU improved to a 5-1 win-loss record, going unbeaten since suffering a shock three-sets loss to FEU back on opening day.

John Mark Millette led the cellar-dwelling Fighting Maroons (0-6) with 12 points, as Jerry Earl San Pedro got 11.

Meanwhile, Ateneo drubbed Adamson, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 in the day's first match.
