BRYAN Bagunas unloaded 24 points as National University scores its third straight win while dealing Adamson University its first loss, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, in the UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Bagunas, last season’s Finals MVP, had 19 kills and five blocks for his third straight 20-point outing as the Bulldogs tied their victims at second place with 3-1 win-loss records behind unbeaten FEU Tamaraws (4-0).
James Natividad had 11 points to go with 14 excellent receptions and five digs. Rookie Angelo Almendras added nine markers, while Joshua Retamar dished out 23 excellent sets.
NU takes on UST (2-2) on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Adamson committed 26 errors in the match and leading scorer Paolo Pablico was limited to five points.
George Labang scored 11 for Adamson.
The Falcons try to bounce back when it faces the Tamaraws on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Tony Koyfman delivered 13 points as Ateneo defeated University of the East, 25-22, 25-19, 25-11.
Chu Njigha and Ron Medalla had nine pointseach, Gian Glorioso scored eight and Janjan Rivera added seven.
Ateneo won after two straight losses, improving its record to 2-2 before facing winless University of the Philippines (0-4) on Sunday next week.
Nobody scored in double figures for UE with Angelu Noel Alba and Clifford Inoferio finishing with six points each as they dropped to 1-3 before facing FEU on Wednesday.
